The Institute of Mineral Resources, Environment and Technologies, taking into account the strategic lines of the Catholic University, tends to establish the guidelines on which interventions will be based, as well as the actions and evaluation criteria that will facilitate the use of resources, in order to satisfy the needs and expectations of students and teachers who, being part of the project, will obviously be influenced by the choices that will be made in relation to the development of the project itself. The involvement of all components of the organic unit guarantees the achievement of the defined objectives with a unitary perspective. The involvement of external bodies, such as the Institute's partners, will promote support and continuous participation in the future development of the Institute, thus receiving valuable information on the areas in which it has achieved positive results and on the planning process. those where improvements are needed soon. To strengthen the presence of the Institute (IRMAT) within UCAN and the region in the field of research, it is intended to develop research policies more focused on promoting excellence. To this end, the activity of the Technological Research Center (CIT) is reinforced with project activities with partner Societies and Universities. These include PETRANGOLA, TECANGOLOGIES, CHEVRON, SAIPEM, ECOANGOLA, NAÇÃO VERDE, ISPTEC, INSTITUTO SUPERIOR DE ENGINEERING DE COIMBRA (Portugal), LANCASTER UNIVERSITY (UK), UNIVERSIDADE DE BEUA (Cameroon). Planned initiatives aim to strengthen efficient support structures and research coordination mechanisms, allowing researchers to focus on the scientific component of the programs and projects in which they are involved. We can also count on an integrated information system that helps the research community with the knowledge generated by both the IRMAT and the CIT, also creating the conditions for its dissemination in a structured way, increasing the visibility of the University's scientific production, to create the conditions to apply for competitive research funding at the national level.
