A Christian presence in the university world in the face of the great problems of society and culture

(Cfr. Organic Statute of the Catholic University of Angola, Art. 5)

I. Since the objective of the Catholic University is to guarantee, in an institutional way, a Christian presence in the university world in the face of the great problems of society and culture, it must have, as a Catholic, the following essential characteristics:

a) A Christian institution, not only of individuals, but also of the university community as such;

b) An incessant reflection, in the light of the Catholic faith, on the growing treasure of human knowledge, to which it seeks to contribute through its own investigations;

c) Fidelity to the Christian message as presented by the Church;

d) Institutional commitment to the service of the People of God and the human family in their journey towards that transcendent objective which gives meaning to life;

II. The Catholic University of Angola is an institution for the creation of knowledge, critical analysis, transmission and dissemination of culture, science and technology which, through research, teaching and provision of services to the community, contributes to the economic and social development of the country. , for the defense of the environment, for the promotion of social justice and enlightened and responsible citizenship and for the consolidation of sovereignty based on knowledge.

III. The Catholic University of Angola's mission is to act in solidarity and effectively for the integral development of the human person and society, through the generation and communion of knowledge, committed to quality, ethical and Christian values, in the search for truth.

IV. The University has a duty to contribute to:

a) Promote actions to support the dissemination of humanistic, artistic, scientific and technological culture, providing the necessary resources for these purposes;

b) To develop activities related to society, namely the dissemination and transfer of knowledge and the economic valuation of scientific knowledge;
